The Department is today publishing guidance for airport operators on the preparation of master plans. The White Paper "The Future of Air Transport" indicated that we will expect airport operators to produce master plans setting out their proposals for future development. The guidance contains suggestions for the process of preparing master plans and the range of issues which they might address.

The guidance has been produced jointly with the Scottish Executive, the Welsh Assembly Government and the Department for Regional Development for Northern Ireland, and will be relevant to airports throughout the United Kingdom. Copies have been placed in the Libraries of both Houses, and the guidance is also available on the Department for Transport's website: www.dft.gov.uk
