To ask the Scottish Executive when it last met members of the Scottish Section of the Showmen’s Guild of Great Britain and Ireland.

The Scottish Government has not had any recent requests from the Scottish Section of the Showmen’s Guild of Great Britain and Ireland for a meeting. I last met with members of the Scottish section on 27 May 2009 and the First Minister hosted a reception for the Guild at Stirling Castle on 27 October 2009.

We have a constructive relationship with the Guild, and on 26 November 2010 an official attended the Scottish Section’s annual luncheon in Glasgow. One of the issues raised at the event was the setting up of a Scottish Parliament Cross-Party Group for Showmen. Whilst this is not a matter for the Scottish Government, we would very much welcome the setting up of such a group.
