To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will list the decisions on applications for funding to the Equality Unit from May 2007 that were approved in principle by the First Minister, subject to agreement by officials of a detailed proposal.

The application for funding to the Equality Unit that was approved in principle by the First Minister, subject to agreement by officials of a detailed proposal, is detailed in the answer to question S3W-16025 on 2 October 2008. The First Minister has an interest in every portfolio across government, and has sight of many applications which have funding implications. It would be impractical to attempt to identify all the applications which fall into this category since May 2007.

Ministers make up the Government and almost all are members of the House of Lords or the House of Commons. There are three main types of Minister. Departmental Ministers are in charge of Government Departments. The Government is divided into different Departments which have responsibilities for different areas. For example the Treasury is in charge of Government spending. Departmental Ministers in the Cabinet are generally called 'Secretary of State' but some have special titles such as Chancellor of the Exchequer. Ministers of State and Junior Ministers assist the ministers in charge of the department. They normally have responsibility for a particular area within the department and are sometimes given a title that reflects this - for example Minister of Transport.
