Question S3W-1479

To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S3W-280 by Richard Lochhead on 12 June 2007 in which he confirmed his meeting with NFU Scotland, whether NFU Scotland’s delegation contained a representative from its Highland Committee; how many farmers NFU Scotland represents, shown as a percentage of all Scottish farmers; whether the membership of NFU Scotland is weighted to any sector, size of farm, or type of farm by reference of the farmer’s status as a tenant or owner-occupier farmer, and what information the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment has available to him on the membership of NFU Scotland and whether he will make any such figures available.

There was no delegation as such. As part of our engagement process, the Minister for Environment and I met with the Chief Executive and Head of Rural Policy for NFU Scotland, both of whom had attended the Stakeholders meeting immediately beforehand.

The information you seek on membership and other matters relating to NFU Scotland is a matter for that organisation.
