To ask the Scottish Executive how many places are available for children suffering from autistic spectrum disorder in (a) South Lanarkshire, (b) Glasgow City, (c) East Renfrewshire and (d) North Lanarkshire council areas, showing also the types of facilities available.

The information requested is not held centrally.

However, the numbers of pupils in each local authority with an autism spectrum disorder identified as their main difficulty of learning or their reason for support in primary, secondary and special schools, are published in tables 6.9, 6.10, 7.7, 7.8, 8.6 and 8.7 respectively, of Pupils in Scotland, on the Executive’s website
