To ask the Scottish Executive how many people in Scotland were declared bankrupt in each year since 1997.
The Accountant in Bankruptcy maintains the Register of Insolvencies in Scotland. Details of bankruptcies are compiled by financial year. The following table gives the number of bankruptcies for the financial years 1996-97 to 2005-06.
