To ask the Scottish Executive what steps it is taking to increase the number of visually impaired people voting in local elections.

The Representation of the People Act 2000 made changes to parliamentary elections rules in relation to assistance with voting for people with disabilities. Similar measures will be introduced for local government elections later this year and will make it easier for visually impaired people to cast their votes.
