Immigration is clearly an area in which Holyrood does not have control. It is all very well for Opposition parties to say that we should focus on the powers that we have, but what happens if we need more people, people want to come here, and Westminster says no? Should we just sit back and accept that, or should we argue that we need to have at least some discretion in that area—for example, for the Brain family from Dingwall?

I hope that Opposition members will be a little bit more positive about the Scottish economy in the next five years than they were in the past five years.
