As Mr Gibson will be aware from my statement, I have made some comments on the record about the grant arrangements. Although we will be considering how best to develop those arrangements in the Highlands and Islands, the existing arrangements will continue at this time. Obviously, this announcement will give HIE the opportunity to focus effectively on supporting business and enterprise development, and to encourage that process in all the areas of the Highlands and Islands. From my numerous conversations with Willie Roe, the chairman of HIE, I know of his enthusiasm for the development of greater economic activity within the islands of Scotland. He has made a tremendous contribution to the debate in that respect. We will work closely with HIE to ensure that island communities are able to embark on securing greater prosperity through the new arrangements.
