Point of Order: Autism Community: Mental Health and Suicide (30 Nov 2017)

Kevan Jones: And employment, as my hon. Friend says from a sedentary position. There is another big problem that a lot of individuals with autism encounter. They go through the school system. Education finishes and they transition into work. I know of quite a few examples of this from my constituency. A lot of these young people, who are perfectly capable of engaging in some type of employment, seem to...

Point of Order: Autism Community: Mental Health and Suicide (30 Nov 2017)

Kevan Jones: I totally agree, because autism is not just a health issue. The hon. Member for Berwick-upon-Tweed made a very good point. How many times have we seen people reacting to a child in a supermarket kicking off, as it were, with no recognition of the fact that the child is on the autism spectrum or of the challenges that that poses for the parents? We need to hard-wire that idea in. The...

Oral Answers to Questions — Defence: Departmental Funding (27 Nov 2017)

Kevan Jones: I welcome the right hon. Gentleman to his new post and to the world of defence. The National Audit Office report earlier this year highlighted the fact that the Government have committed £24.4 billion to extra equipment, but only another £6.4 billion was actually there in new money for the joint strike fighter. How will he fill that £18 billion black hole in the budget on the...

Kevan Jones: On a point of order, Mr Gray. We have had a very good debate this morning. A lot of questions have been asked by Members across the Chamber. Now, call me old-fashioned, but I thought it was the role of the Minister when replying to a debate actually to reply to it and not just read out a prepared statement.

UK Amphibious Capability — [James Gray in the Chair] (21 Nov 2017)

Kevan Jones: So why are you a Tory then?

UK Amphibious Capability — [James Gray in the Chair] (21 Nov 2017)

Kevan Jones: Does my hon. Friend agree that the black hole is of the Government’s own making? In 2013, they increased the whole great shopping list of new equipment, with no extra cash to pay for it. It was predicated basically on efficiency savings and land sales, which have not yet been achieved and will not be achieved.

UK Amphibious Capability — [James Gray in the Chair] (21 Nov 2017)
