Environment, Food and Rural Affairs: Animal Welfare Standards: Imports and Exports ( 1 Feb 2024)

Since leaving the EU, we have put in place strong controls on imports, and we are using Brexit freedoms to strengthen animal welfare standards even further by banning the export of live animals for slaughter. Steve Barclay: We have taken quick and decisive action following the concerning rise in fatalities; there have been nine recent fatalities. We have now seen 30,000 dog owners registered as part of the balanced approach we are taking.
