Ian Pearson: holding answer 16 December 2008 I refer the hon. Gentleman to the answer I gave the hon. Member for West Ham (Lyn Brown) on 30 October 2008, Official Report, column 1189W.
Lyn Brown: In November I welcomed the announcement of spending on the Prescott lock in my constituency, but rumours abound that the Olympic legacy of usage, leisure and working of the Bow back waters is currently under threat. Will my hon. Friend meet me to discuss this issue, which is important to my constituents?
Lyn Brown: I welcome my right hon. and learned Friend's announcement that next week we will debate the important topics of freedom of information and publication of Members' allowances. Can she assure me that we will be given the chance to debate and to vote to make our allowances even more transparent?
Lyn Brown: Will my hon. Friend consider economic sanctions? They are an effective tool of non-violent intervention. Surely with the right to trade comes the responsibility to uphold basic humanitarian principles.
Stephen Timms: I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave my hon. Friend the Member for West Ham (Lyn Brown) on 12 January 2009, Official Report, column 328W.
Stephen Timms: I refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave my hon. Friend the Member for West Ham (Lyn Brown) on 12 January 2009, Official Report, column 328W.
Lyn Brown: Will my right hon. Friend tell me what progress is being made on the multi-area agreement for the Olympic boroughs? Can she tell me what difference she thinks it will make to my constituents?
Lyn Brown: To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government what recent assessment she has made of the effect of the credit crunch on the ability of local authorities to meet their local area agreement targets.
Lyn Brown: If he will make a statement on his departmental responsibilities.
Lyn Brown: Does my hon. Friend agree that when we set up companies that may well put properties back into the public sector, as with Local Space, we must ensure that the model is not predicated on using the highest ever level of housing benefit, as that traps people once again in a cycle of dependency on benefits?
Lyn Brown: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent discussions his Department has had with the government of (a) the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and (b) Rwanda regarding the joint military operation involving their two countries in the East of the DRC; and if he will make a statement.
Lyn Brown: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether his Department has made representations to the government of Ethiopia on the detention of Birtukan Mideksa; and if he will make a statement.
Lyn Brown: To ask the Secretary of State for International Development whether his Department plans to increase the assistance it provides to (a) disarmament, (b) demobilisation, (c) repatriation, (d) reintegration and (e) rehabilitation programmes in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Lyn Brown: What recent discussions he has had with ministerial colleagues on improving the energy efficiency of houses by 2020; and if he will make a statement.
Lyn Brown: I am sure that my hon. Friend will agree that bullying in schools is insidious in all its many forms. Indeed, it has been reported that nearly half of all trans-gendered pupils attempt suicide before their 18th birthday. Will she tell me what the Government are doing to protect this very vulnerable group of young people?
Lyn Brown: Whether the proposed new equality duty will apply to equality of opportunity in respect of religion and belief.
