Lord David Steel: There are eight questions to be put as a result of today's business. The first question is, that amendment S1M-3760.3.1, in the name of Phil Gallie, which seeks to amend the amendment in the name of Tom McCabe, on the current international situation, be agreed to. Are we agreed?

Phil Gallie: ...I want to avoid war. We hope that war will not take place, but if it does, it is necessary to place my amendment next to that of Mr McCabe. I move, as an amendment to amendment S1M-3760.3, amendment S1M-3760.3.1, to insert at end: "and extends its full support to our armed forces if, as a consequence of an Iraqi failure to comply, military action should prove necessary."
