Major Abraham Lyons: Can the right hon. Gentleman give us an assurance that the advisory committee will give every possible consideration to the interests concerned?
Major Abraham Lyons: 10. asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will consider taking further powers to establish a censorship of posters, publications and literature relating to cinematograph films, silent and talking, for public exhibition?
Major Abraham Lyons: When that committee is appointed, will it in the public interest consider any representations that are made for local authorities who find such posters offensive?
Major Abraham Lyons: 22. asked the Minister of Health whether, with a view of safeguarding the ratepayers of a borough against excessive expenditure for no purpose, he will introduce legislation to control the application for extension of boundaries by local authorities or to require the leave of the Minister as a condition to the application being brought?
Major Abraham Lyons: In view of the fact that in some instances the local authorities get no more than they could have got by negotiations will not the right hon. Gentleman make representations in appropriate cases in order to save the ratepayers' money, where such public applications ought never to have been put forward?
Major Abraham Lyons: 28. asked the Prime Minister whether he can now make a statement as to the future policy of the Government with reference to the Rent Restrictions Act?
Major Abraham Lyons: 62. asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider introducing legislation to require the gravity of beer to be indicated on every cask and barrel and on every invoice relating thereto?
Major Abraham Lyons: 16. asked the Home Secretary the latest regulations of the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police with reference to the issue of police reports upon road accidents?
Major Abraham Lyons: Is it a fact that these new regulations impose a premium of £ 1 — 10s. for a report, and 10s. for an interview—to be paid before the proposed litigant can approach the police officer; and, in suitable cases, will the right hon. Gentlemen recommend remission of these charges to poor people.
Major Abraham Lyons: Is that observation included in the representations of the Commissioner?
Major Abraham Lyons: 27. asked the Minister of Health if he will consider the introduction of legislation to require the gravity of beer to be indicated on each cask sold and supplied and upon every invoice in relation thereto?
Major Abraham Lyons: Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that this is the only commodity which is free from any statutory representation, and, in view of the high taxation now existing in the case of beer, will he see his way to undertake legislation to ensure that the buyer gets at least what he pays for and what is purported to be sold?
Major Abraham Lyons: Is it not a fact that for several years this was enforced by law and worked very satisfactorily, to the advantage of the consumer?
Major Abraham Lyons: 59. asked the President of the Board of Trade the number of typewriters imported into this country from Canada during the year 1931; the number for the quarter ended 31st March, 1932; and the number for the months of April and May, 1932, respectively?
Major Abraham Lyons: Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether those typewriters have come in duty free or not?
Major Abraham Lyons: 33. asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he will state the amount of revenue received as Import Duty from the entry of typewriters into this country for the month of May, 1932?
Major Abraham Lyons: Can the right hon. Gentleman give me any idea of the percentage of Import Duties received in respect of machines entering from Canada?
Major Abraham Lyons: 51. asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs if he will now make a statement upon the recent trading agreement between Canada and Germany, and give its terms and its effect upon this country?
Major Abraham Lyons: In view of the seriousness of what that agreement might mean at the present time, will my right hon. Friend take steps to stop the circulation of any statement suggesting such an agreement before the Ottawa Conference?
Major Abraham Lyons: May we have an assurance from my right hon. Friend that the reports about this matter are entirely unfounded?
