Conservative MP for Suffolk Coastal ( 6 May 2010 – current)
Did you mean theresa Coffey?
John Bercow: ...and Renfrewshire South Sir Robert Hill Smith, West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine John Webster Robertson, Glasgow North West Alan Keen, Feltham and Heston Andrew Henry George, St Ives Margaret Ann Coffey, Stockport Marek Jerzy Lazarowicz, Edinburgh North and Leith Martin Phillip Caton, Gower Edward Jonathon Davey, Kingston and Surbiton Michael Kevin Moore, Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk...
Therese Coffey: Thank you for allowing me to make my maiden speech in this debate on the Gracious Speech, Mr Speaker. It is a particular pleasure to see you in your place, as I recall receiving public speaking training from you 20 years ago, so I hope that this speech shows that I have absorbed some of the wisdom that you imparted. I wish to start by congratulating my predecessor on his achievements in the...
Therese Coffey: To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs if she will review the effectiveness of the Government's policies in preventing coastal erosion; if she will visit the Suffolk Coastal area to examine the likely impact of current policy proposals; and if she will make a statement.
Therese Coffey: rose-
Therese Coffey: Can the Minister please give any details of the review into the introduction of the 20 times pay multiple in the public sector?
Therese Coffey: Will my right hon. Friend support the work of the OBR in assessing offsheet balance liabilities, including such things as PFI and unfunded public sector pension liabilities? I hope that he will recognise that it is important that we put all the debts that Labour has generated over the years on the balance sheet once and for all so we know how we can pay for them.
Therese Coffey: I understand the passion felt by the hon. Gentleman on behalf of public sector workers in particular, and I think that it is shared across the House. Does he not recognise, however, that the debt interest payments that we shall soon be making will affect every worker, and every non-worker, in the country?
Therese Coffey: To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills if he will review the eligibility criteria for the establishment of a debt relief order for the purposes of removing the criterion relating to funds held in a pension fund which are not accessible prior to retirement.
Therese Coffey: What support his Department is giving to the Football Association's bid to host the 2018 World Cup.
Therese Coffey: I welcome the recent speech given by the Secretary of State on improving internet access right across our country, especially in rural areas. That is particularly welcome to my constituents in Suffolk who suffer from not-spots and slow spots. Will he meet me particularly to discuss the fact that fibre optics are available across parts of our country, but they have been paid for by the state,...
Therese Coffey: Has the hon. Gentleman not seen the comments by the head of EDF, Vincent de Rivaz, about how his organisation welcomes this new development and how it will continue to put forward its programmes despite there being no subsidy from the public sector? Such comments will be very pleasing to my constituents because it should mean that Sizewell will get built.
Therese Coffey: If she will take steps to support fishermen in Suffolk Coastal constituency subject to restrictions in fishing activity arising from quota allocations and regulations on fishing vessels under 10 metres in length.
Therese Coffey: To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government what figures (a) Suffolk Coastal District Council and (b) Waveney District Council submitted to his Department for the formulation of option 1 of the East of England housing strategy.
Therese Coffey: To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change if he will take steps to extend his policy to reduce levels of fuel poverty to cover people who use oil and liquefied petroleum gas for heating.
Therese Coffey: To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what the monetary value is of the fund accumulated from water abstraction charges through the environmental improvement unit charge; and how much has been (a) paid from and (b) committed from this fund since its inception.
Therese Coffey: To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government how many paid officials in his Department are full-time trade union officials; and what the (a) salary and (b) expenses entitlement of each is.
Therese Coffey: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many and what proportion of businesses were entered into insolvency by HM Revenue and Customs in the last 12 months for which figures are available; and in how many such cases HM Revenue and Customs was the sole creditor.
Therese Coffey: Does the hon. Lady not accept that under the last Government the gap between the richest and the poorest grew? I feel that what she is saying now is a contentious way of suggesting that somehow the Conservative-Liberal coalition is attacking the poorest.
Therese Coffey: To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what estimate he has made of prison capacity in each of the next three years.
Therese Coffey: To ask the Secretary of State for Justice (1) how many non-UK nationals from (a) EU member states and (b) non-EU member states are detained in prison (i) on remand and (ii) serving sentences; (2) how many non-UK nationals of each country of citizenship are in prison.
