The Department met with Scottish Government, The Crown Estate Scotland, Pale Blue Dot Energy Ltd, Scottish Carbon Capture & Storage and Summit Power on 15 November 2017 to discuss CCUS in Scotland and these discussions continue.

Richard Harrington: ...given a Development Consent Order in June 2015. A marine licence has not yet been awarded by Natural Resources Wales. The responsibility for deciding whether to grant a seabed lease rests with the Crown Estate. The Government’s negotiations with Tidal Lagoon Power Ltd are commercially sensitive and it would not be appropriate to comment on the latest proposal.

Richard Harrington: The Crown Estate UK Wave and Tidal Key Resource Areas study (2012)[1] assessed the UK’s theoretical maximum resource for tidal stream, barrage and lagoon resource at 95 TWh/year (32 GW), 96 TWh/year (45 GW) and 25 TWh/year (14 GW) respectively.
