Chris Matheson: To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what estimate he has made of the number of homeless deaths in (a) Chester, (b) England and (c) the UK in each year since 2010.
Chris Matheson: To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, which body is responsible for monitoring progress against the target to plant 75,000 acres of trees per year; what progress his Department has made towards meeting that target; and what the timescale is for achieving that target.
Chris Matheson: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what the value of goods imported to the UK from the occupied Palestinian territories was in (a) 2017, (b) 2018, and (c) 2019.
Chris Matheson: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what estimate he has made of the (a) proportion of goods imported to the UK from Israel that were produced in Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories in 2019 and (b) value of those goods.
Chris Matheson: What a great pleasure it is to follow the maiden speech of the hon. Member for Burnley (Antony Higginbotham). I congratulate him on that. He touched on the historical context of his predecessors and the tragedy of one of his predecessors losing his life at the Somme, but he also gave us a sense of Burnley—not only the urban area, but the area that stretches out on to the hills and up on to...
Chris Matheson: To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, what estimate he has made of the number of homeless deaths in the UK from members of (a) an ethnic minority group and (b) the LGBTQ population in each year since 2010.
Chris Matheson: To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, what proportion of staff employed by No. 10 Downing Street (a) were educated at a private school, (b) are from an ethnic minority group, (c) are women and (d) are apprentices.
Chris Matheson: To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, what plans he has to bring forward legislative proposals to implement the recommendations of the 2018 Review of Parliamentary constituency boundaries.
Chris Matheson: To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, what steps her Department is taking to ensure that UK businesses do not conduct business in illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Chris Matheson: To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, if she will make it her policy to exclude the import of goods produced in illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories from future trade deals; and if she will make a statement.
Chris Matheson: I have been contacted by a constituent who is a consultant in emergency medicine at the Countess of Chester Hospital, which the Secretary of State knows well. My constituent has expressed concern about the use of nebulisers for the delivery of medicines for respiratory illnesses, on the basis that there is evidence that they might enhance the spread of airborne viruses in a confined space. I...
Chris Matheson: What plans he has to support innovation in the aerospace sector.
Chris Matheson: I am grateful to the Minister for that answer. The UK leads the world in aerospace technology, but it faces the same pressures as other sectors with regard to environmental sustainability, so may I urge him to increase long-term funding for the industry so that we can retain our global lead while meeting the challenge of net zero?
Chris Matheson: Will Ministers review the operation of the free school meals cash card, because I believe that £2.30 a day is often not enough for the cost of the school meal? I also understand that the money is not roll-overable and Feeding Britain estimates that this means that £88 million went unspent in one year, when it should have been spent feeding children from low-income families.
Chris Matheson: Of course those citizens whose voices are taken away because they do not have photographic ID are also victims. As the Minister is concerned about fraudulent votes, can she tell the House how many fraudulent votes were prevented in each of the pilot areas?
Chris Matheson: What a great pleasure it is to follow the maiden speech of the new hon. Member for Aylesbury (Rob Butler). I look forward to him bringing in his “Blankety Blank” chequebook and pen so that we can all admire it in the Tea Room. May I also pay a very warm tribute to his predecessor, David Lidington, who I shadowed for a while? I have to say that I did not actually enjoy shadowing him—not...
Chris Matheson: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what assessment he has made of the effect of the decision by the Government of Israel to ban export of Palestinian agricultural products on Palestinian farmers in the West Bank.
Chris Matheson: If he will make a statement on his departmental responsibilities.
Chris Matheson: Since 2010, the Conservatives have cut more than a third of all funding to local authorities’ domestic and sexual violence services. I have constituents coming to see me who are in shelters for months or even years because the facilities are not there. When are the Government going to bring forward the domestic abuse Bill, which has cross-party support, so that we can give justice to victims?
Chris Matheson: To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, what steps he has taken to help ensure (a) UK supermarkets and (b) Oxfam shops have continued access to imported Palestinian agricultural products.
