I acknowledge the Financial Secretary’s point, but does he not accept that REITs will have their own incentives to keep investors happy and that the management of a REIT would be careful about pursuing a route that could cause them disadvantage with an investor, because of commercial pressures if nothing else? I acknowledge his concern, but that flexibility would probably not result in the management of a REIT acting recklessly, as far as the interests of investors are concerned.
