My hon. Friend makes an important point. The domestic circumstances of new young mothers can vary enormously. One teenage mother may still be living in her family home, getting a lot of support from her parents and her mother may be taking a large amount of responsibility for the baby, which would make it much easier for the mother to return to education. However, that might not be happening. She may be living on her own in council accommodation, for example, and the stresses of coping with the demands of looking after a baby, probably on a small income, would make it extremely difficult for her to access training or education at that point.
