I do not intend to speak in relation to clause stand part. The amendment is technical and is again based on legal advice. The first part makes it clear that the Bill would not apply retrospectively and would not expunge requests for information made before the Bill comes into force. The other part of the amendment is simply an interpretation provision, making it clear that the terminology used in the Bill means the same as that used in the 2000 Act.

I believe that the amendment is wise and sensible and I commend it to the Committee.
