May I briefly move on to clause 58, which concerns the extension of powers of non-legal staff—designated caseworkers—in court? Obviously the objections to it come, principally, from the trade unions for lawyers, or the professional bodies, as they are otherwise known. I was interested that the Magistrates Association also has had concerns about the extension of the role of non-professional-body staff in court. I wondered if you could explain the basis of your concerns to the Committee.
