I am not sure that I can help the hon. Gentleman further. I set out in my letter on necessary consultation as regards several aspects of the Bill the exact position that we expect to arise—that is, where guidance or consultation will take place and what we envisage will happen next within the time frame. I am not sure that I can be more helpful to the hon. Gentleman. Can he explain what further information he is interested in?
A parliamentary bill is divided into sections called clauses.
Printed in the margin next to each clause is a brief explanatory `side-note' giving details of what the effect of the clause will be.
During the committee stage of a bill, MPs examine these clauses in detail and may introduce new clauses of their own or table amendments to the existing clauses.
When a bill becomes an Act of Parliament, clauses become known as sections.
