Committees

In the UK Parliament, committees are groups of MPs or Peers who examine specific issues in more detail than can be done in debates.

Some committees focus on checking the government’s decisions and spending, while others investigate specific topics and proposed legislation.

Helen Hayes is currently a member of the following committees:

Member, Liaison Committee (Commons)

The Liaison Committee is made up of Select Committee Chairs.

It considers the overall work of select committees, promotes effective scrutiny of Government and chooses committee reports for debates.

It questions the Prime Minister about policy, usually three times a year.
