  • Science, Innovation and Technology: Internet Connectivity 22 May 2024

What recent steps her Department has taken to improve internet connectivity.
  • Science, Innovation and Technology: Internet Connectivity 22 May 2024

I very much welcome the Minister’s response, but does she agree that we need to ensure that we do not create a new digital divide where only parts of certain communities are upgraded, depending on where they are situated and where they are connected to the telecom box? This is causing a lot of concern in my constituency, where a continuing digital divide is being created.
  • Petition - Recommendations of the Infected Blood Inquiry 15 May 2024

Like many others, I rise to present a petition on behalf of my constituents of York Outer who have, alongside their families, suffered directly from wrongly receiving infected blood and have waited far too long for redress. I pay tribute to my constituents, including Norman, who have signed the petition, and I call on the Government to fully implement the recommendations set out in the...
  • Gypsy and Traveller Sites 15 May 2024

I congratulate my hon. Friend on securing this debate. He has touched on a key point. Does he agree that one of the problems is that planning guidance differs so much from local authority to local authority and in how it is applied? For example, City of York Council, which covers my constituency’s planning guidance, has been all over the place recently on the issue. It has looked at...
  • Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office: Topical Questions 30 Apr 2024

Ahead of the UN General Assembly high-level meeting on antimicrobial resistance, does my right hon. Friend agree that it is vital to build the political will of developed and developing countries to prioritise tackling AMR? What discussions has he had with his counterparts coming up to this high-level meeting?
  • Health and Social Care: Topical Questions 23 Apr 2024

Following discussions with constituents who are living with Parkinson’s and with Parkinson’s UK, I am concerned that North Yorkshire has only one dedicated Parkinson’s nurse. Given the complexity of the condition, what steps are being taken further to incentivise nurses to specialise in Parkinson’s and on long-term delivery?
  • Wine Duty 5 Mar 2024

My hon. Friend is making an important argument. I met with Liquid Indulgence, a small wine supplier in my constituency that supplies commercial businesses around York, as well as selling direct to customers. The point my hon. Friend is making is exactly what that small business said to me about the impact this change would have on that business and whether it could continue. It will surely...
