Lord Robert Grosvenor

Former MP for Fermanagh and South Tyrone

As a result of COVID-19, some MPs were less able to vote in Parliament in certain periods, and this will be reflected by absences in their voting record.

11th May to 2nd June 2020

All MPs could vote remotely through an online voting tool. Votes cast remotely are shown as normal on the TheyWorkForYou voting record.

2nd to 9th June 2020

The option of online voting was removed, and a number of MPs may have been unable to vote because they were not physically able to attend.

10th June 2020 onwards

The requirements on proxy voting were relaxed, allowing MPs to designate another MP to cast a vote on their behalf.

If an MP votes by proxy, it is effectively exactly the same as if they cast the vote in person and it shows up on their TheyWorkForYou voting record.

MPs are not required to designate a proxy, and may instead pair with an opposing MP to miss a vote. Parliament does not record when two MPs have come to a pairing arrangement, so on TheyWorkForYou, they will both appear to have been absent for the vote.

We will update this information if the situation changes. See more detail on votes during the COVID-19 period here.

  • Brucellosis 19 Jun 1964

I support the Motion of my hon. Friend the Member for Richmond, Yorks (Mr. Kitson), notwithstanding his remark that "even" Northern Ireland had started an eradication scheme. Not only have we started a brucellosis eradication scheme, but we are also free of foot-and-mouth disease. The Northern Ireland Ministry of Agriculture started the scheme about a year ago. First, it concentrated, very...
  • Orders of the Day — Adoption Bill 28 Feb 1964

I wish to support my hon. Friend the Member for Mid-Ulster (Mr. Forrest). The House will generally welcome any legislation that facilitates adoption in any form. The terms of the Bill are narrow and bring into line Great Britain, the Channel Islands the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland. Certain of our colleagues have contributed to adoption legislation—Baroness Horsbrugh, who is now in...
  • Orders of the Day — Protection of Birds Act 1954 (Amendment) Bill 28 Feb 1964

I am very happy to support this small Bill introduced by my hon. Friend the Member for Armagh (Mr. Maginnis), which will rub out the rather ridiculous situation that one can be wrong and right under two different pieces of legislation, a state of affairs which can make life very difficult if one gets into trouble at any time. There is one small point which I hope that my hon. Friend the...
