My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper. I am sure that the whole House will wish to join me in thanking the noble Lord, Lord Wigoder, for his service on this committee. The noble Lord has been a member of the Privileges Committee continuously since 1977, which makes him easily the longest-serving member of any Select Committee and is probably a record.

Moved, That the Lord Roper be appointed a member of the Select Committee in the place of the Lord Wigoder.—(The Chairman of Committees.)

My Lords, my noble friend Lord Steel of Aikwood whispered to me a moment or two ago that I should consider myself fortunate that after my name on the Order Paper there did not appear in brackets the word "deceased". I thank the noble Lord for his comments. My principal regret is that I leave the committee just as I was beginning to get the hang of what was going on.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
