Passenger Transport Executives (PTEs) are local government bodies which are responsible for public transport (passenger transport) within large urban areas. They are accountable to bodies called Passenger Transport Authorities (PTAs). They are: GMPTE (Greater Manchester), Merseytravel (Merseyside), SYPTE (South Yorkshire), Nexus (West Midlands), Centro (West Midlands) and Metro (West Yorkshire).
