I rise to present a petition on behalf of my constituents in Edmonton. The petition has over 200 signatures including from local businesses, the local community and our faith leaders.

The petition states:

The petition of residents of London,

Declares that on Tuesday 18th December Edmonton saw a young person lose his life to gun crime;
further that in November there were gun and knife crime incidents in our area;
further that according to the BBC around 132 lives have been lost in the capital over the last year;
noting that this is too many lives lost with too many of them in Edmonton;
and further that this has inevitably led our local community to feel unsafe, worried and concerned for our young people.

The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urges the Home Secretary to urgently increase resources for both the Police and Youth Services to ensure that our young people and communities can live in a safe and positive environment.

And the petitioners remain, etc.
