My right hon. Friend will be aware that there is deep concern on both sides of the House about administrative detention in excess of 28 days. Under the leadership of Ms Harman, who chairs the Joint Committee on Human Rights, I and my right hon. Friend Mr Davis, my right hon. and learned Friend Mr Grieve, and the right hon. Members for Leeds Central (Hilary Benn) and for Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford (Yvette Cooper) will seek to amend the Bill, at the appropriate stage, to stop people being administratively detained for more than 28 days.
