I should like to thank the Minister for the open, listening approach that she has taken in response to representations from myself, my hon. Friend Preet Kaur Gill, Mr Grieve, the Sikh Federation and others who have contacted her. Can she clarify that the effect of the Government amendments to the Bill will be to maintain the status quo as far as Sikh religious practice is concerned? That is all that the community were asking for throughout this process, and if that is what the amendments will do, I believe that they will be warmly welcomed.
