Will my right hon. Friend update the House on progress with connectivity to Leeds Bradford airport? The prospect of a link road is of great concern to many of my constituents. Surely an effective contribution to the northern economic powerhouse would be for one of the largest airports in the north to be connected to the rail network.

I am glad that Stuart Andrew reconises the value of a rail link to the Leeds/Bradford airport. But I hope he realizes that if a new runway is built in the South East, great damage will be done to the prospect of development at the regional airports. The North South divide needs narrowing and an extra runway in the South East would only make matters worse. Tell the airlines NO MORE RUNWAYS - use the spare capacity that exists at the regional airports.
