I commend the hon. Gentleman for raising a matter that could well justify a full debate here or in Westminster Hall. In Northern Ireland, we have seen a rash of suicides as a result of this very drug. Does the hon. Gentleman believe that the laws on drugs should be tightened? I ask because what is happening in his constituency is happening in mine, and throughout the United Kingdom.

Again, this speaker entirely uncritical of the vast over simplification of the issue. Of course it IS prohibition that causes the problem in the first place, to tighten the law is akin to strangling the struggling drug users to death.

There will be a rash of suicides linked to government cutbacks soon enough, if not already. How do you feel about that? Can we criminalise MPs for their stupidity? Can we lock you up for our own protection? I wish...
