I agree that carers do not often fit readily into a definable box. Mrs. McGuire may recall that I visited her in her previous ministerial role. I came to see her with a young lady from my constituency who was trying to balance work and benefits with her mother, who did not regard herself as a carer because the daughter was ostensibly living independently. However, the mother spent most of her life dashing back and forth from her own home to her daughter's home to give her the support that she could not manage without.
