Alert me about debates like this

Members of all parties met the director-general of the BBC earlier this week and expressed considerable anger over its stance on the refusal to broadcast the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal on Gaza. That anger is shared by my constituents, many of whom are BBC employees, yet senior management seem determined to ride it out. So can we have a debate on the Floor of the House on this issue, which is wrecking the BBC's reputation at home and abroad?

It is sickening that Ms Harman can get away with a non-reply reply like that she offered to Mr Slaughter's demand for a debate on the Gaza appeal rejected by the BBC. He is right to demand a debate. Many of the public want one. Instead he is treated to Ms Harman's judgement on the matter. Oh. And there we thought (or used to) that Parliament was there to debate issues demanded by constituents through their MPs. But they can all go home : we have Ms Harman's say-so on the BBC's controversial stance.
