I welcome the shake-up to our border security that the Minister spoke about earlier. Can he tell me how many illegal immigrants we have got rid of in the first 12 months and how many he thinks remain and need to be got rid of?

Patrick Mercer, asked an important question but I doubt that he hoped for anything beyond the embarrassment it would rightly cause the Minister because, Mr Mercer likely knew, that such a question was asked on 28 April 08 and the reply was: "Since the phasing out of exit controls in 1994, no Government have been able to produce an accurate figure for the number of people who are in the country illegally."

Mr Mercer continually makes the comparison of the old type terrorism while serving in the army in Northern Ireland and Muslim terrorists which I think is a different kind of war and we can't fight the same way we fought before and, the more innocent people that die by the hand of our nation, the more the call for vengeance in the next generation and the death of the innocent Muslim mother and child just fuels the flame that may one day scorch our nation.
