This is really a pathetic defence. Council tax was much more affordable when it was brought in under a Conservative gorvernment. The Labour government has effectively shown total acceptance of the council tax system by using it for 8 years now. It has made it a major election issue by allowing super inflationary annual price rises to persist. And it's no good capping my local Slough council just before an election. The electorate is not daft. We can see through that one. If Labour was concerned about rocketing council tax rises then capping should have been implemented years ago. They are trying every trick in the book to defend their past non action. Council tax is now the number 1 issue for me as a voter.
