Separate Representation of Children and Their Interests

—(1) The court may, in the exercise of its powers under section (Welfare of Children), appoint a guardian ad litem for a child if—

  1. (a) it appears to the court on the evidence before it, that it may be appropriate for an order to be made under section 8 of the Children Act 1989; or
  2. (b) there are existing proceedings in any court in England and Wales under section 8 of the Children Act 1989 in relation to any child of the family in question.
