I wish to present a petition which has been signed by 10,000 residents of the London borough of Hackney, protesting at the choice by British Railways Board of the eastern route for the channel tunnel link because it will go through the centre of Hackney and threaten the environment and local jobs:
Wherefore your petitioners pray that your honourable House instruct British Rail to abandon all plans to route a Channel Tunnel high speed rail link across the Borough of Hackney.
