The hon. Gentleman will know that I have not made any specific reference to the views of an individual. My hon. Friend the Member for Staffordshire, South (Mr. Cormack) is pressing that point.

I am talking about the relationship between the European People's party and the Conservative party. That institutional question goes to the heart of article 138a which says: Political parties at European level are important as a factor for integration within the Union. The European People's party is manifestly a political party at European level, which is important as a factor for integration within the union because it espouses a united states of Europe. Nothing could be clearer than that.
