Queen's Recommendation having been signified —

Resolved, That, for the purposes of any Act resulting from the Education (Schools) Bill, it is expedient to authorise the payment out of money provided by Parliament of —

  1. (a) any sums payable under the Act in respect of the office and functions of Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools for England and the office and functions of Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools for Wales;
  2. (b) any other expenses incurred by the Secretary of State under the Act; and
  3. (c) any increase attributable to the Act in sums payable out of money provided by Parliament under any other Act.—[Mr. Kirkhope.]

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
