Resolved,That, for the purposes of any Act resulting from the Local Government Finance Bill ("the Act"), it is expedient to authorise the payment into the Consolidated Fund of—

  1. (a) any sums received by the Secretary of State in consequence of the Act; and
  2. (b) any increase attributable to the Act in the sums payable into that Fund under any other enactment.—[Mr. Wood.]

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
