I have another quotation that relates to grant-maintained schools. A former Labour councillor, Mr. Graham Gardner, said of the school in his area: We are delighted and thrilled to be the first in Wales to opt out. Mr. Gardner's remarks appeared in an article in the Daily Mail of 16 November. He is reported as saying: Parent power had triumphed where Neil Kinnock had failed. The article stated that not one Labour councillor supported Mr. Gardner.
