I have a short statement to make on a matter of privilege.

I have received a complaint from the hon. Member for Rother Valley (Mr. Barron) that the guidelines laid down by the Yorkshire area of the National Union of Mineworkers, in respect of the actions of hon. Members sponsored by the union, are in breach of the privileges of this House. I am satisfied that the complaint raises issues that justify me in granting precedence to a motion relating to it. If the hon. Member now tables such a motion, it will appear as the first item of business tomorrow.
