Mr. Tony Banks, supported by Mr. Chris Smith, Ms. Jo Richardson, Mr. Ian Mikardo, Mr. Jeremy Corbyn, Ms. Harriet Harman, Mr. Frank Dobson and Mr. Harry Cohen, presented a Bill to entrench the rights of the people of London directly to elect a Greater London Council as constituted at 1st January 1984, so that the needs of Greater London may be more fully met and the administration made more fully accountable to the people through the ballot box; to confer further duties on the Greater London Council and the London boroughs; and for purposes connected therewith: And the same was read the First time; and ordered to be read a Second time tomorrow and to be printed [Bill 141].
