Current expenditure plans include total direct grants for adult and continuing education of £14·7 million in the financial year 1984–85, £15·8 million in 1985–86 and £16·3 million in 1986–87. These figures represent cash increases of about 14 per cent., 22 per cent. and 26 per cent. respectively over forecast expenditure of £12·9 million in the current financial year.
