Part of the debate – in the House of Commons at 4:53 pm on 31 July 1980.
I have a great deal of sympathy with the arguments deployed by my right hon. Friend. I think that the supply of arms and of nuclear capacity to the Middle East is highly dangerous. But my right hon. Friend must, in all honesty, admit that while a massive supply of arms continues to flow from the United States to Israel and while Israel fails to sign the non-proliferation treaty, a countervailing action on the other side is bound to develop. My right hon. Friend would do a great service to the House if he commented on that as well.
