Is the hon. Gentleman aware of the serious lack of opportunities in Greater London due to industry moving out and nothing taking its place? Would he treat this urgently by providing some new jobs in the coming years?

The matter should be treated urgently, but there are more than two vacancies for every unemployed young person in Greater London and the number of vacancies has been rising.

Would the hon. Gentleman be prepared to consider arranging a meeting between industrialists and trade unions in the Greater London area to make an assessment of the problem with his Department, because it is getting very serious?
