asked the Minister of Technology what percentage of aerospace industry exports in 1969 were projects initiated during the period 1965 to 1969.

It is impracticable to analyse from the Overseas Trade Accounts that percentage of aerospace industry exports in 1969 which resulted from projects initiated during the period 1965 to 1969. Broadly speaking, however, the length of time required for aerospace development projects to reach production is such that the percentage must be small.

Is my hon. Friend aware that what he has said represents a very small percentage? Can he say when the remainder of the projects were initiated?

By implication, my hon. Friend will realise that most current exports have their genesis in projects before the period referred to in his Question.
