asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is satisfied that there is a sufficient number of inspectors to ensure adequate
supervision of experiments on animals; and if he will make a statement.
Two additional inspectors were appointed earlier this year. My right hon. Friend is considering whether more are needed.
Would the Minister of State consider the idea of allowing R.S.P.C.A. medical surgeons to have occasional access for inspection?
This is an idea I have not previously considered, but I will certainly consider it now.
