asked the Secretary of State for Defence for how many Service personnel his Department has accommodation in Aden; and for how many Service families; and how much has been spent in the last five years on the provision of such accommodation.

There is accommodation for 8,467 single personnel and for 3,051 Service families; about £4 million and £7 million respectively.

As one of the arguments adduced in favour of the withdrawal of troops from Aden is the saving to public funds, has the hon. Gentleman taken into account the cost of providing similar accommodation to this in the United Kingdom for troops when they are withdrawn?
